Privacy Policy

Introduction

LiveTrains Pro ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

• Location data. When you grant permission, we access your device's location to find nearby railway stations. This data is processed entirely on your device and is never sent to our servers or any third party.
• Favourites & preferences. Your favourite stations and routes are stored locally on your device using iOS's built-in storage. When you pin a train, the app sends that train's service details to our service so it can deliver Live Activity updates and delay alerts for it — nothing else about your favourites leaves your device.
• Pinned-train notifications. To update a pinned train's Live Activity on your Lock Screen, the app registers an Apple push token for that activity with our service. The token identifies the activity, not you, and stops working when the activity ends or you unpin the train. Pinning a train also registers your device's Apple push token and the list of trains you have pinned, so we can notify you when one of them is delayed or cancelled. That device token identifies the device, not you. Unpinning a train removes it from the list we hold the next time the app can reach our service; unpinning every train clears the list the same way. The device token remains until Apple replaces it, or for up to 30 days after the app last registered it with our service.
• Search history. Recent station searches are stored locally on your device to improve your experience. This data is not transmitted externally.

Our Train-Data Service

Live departure and arrival boards are served through our own caching service. Requests to it include the station codes you look up and a random per-install credential used for abuse prevention — never your identity, contacts, or location. The credential is not linked to you; it is stored in the iOS Keychain (which can persist across reinstalls) and expires server-side.

Third-Party Services

The app's data ultimately comes from these external sources:

• Rail Data Marketplace / National Rail (Darwin). The source of live departure and arrival information. Requests concern only the stations and services being looked up — no personal data is transmitted.
• Transport for London (TfL). We fetch London transport status information from TfL's public API. No personal data is transmitted in these requests.

Advertising

This app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data as described in Google's Privacy Policy and may share data with advertising partners.

If personalised advertising is enabled, we request your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before any tracking occurs. If you decline, only non-personalised ads are shown. You can change this preference at any time in iOS Settings.

Your Consent Choices (EEA, UK & Switzerland)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we present a consent message (powered by Google's User Messaging Platform) before serving personalised ads. You may:

• Consent to personalised advertising;
• Manage options to make granular choices about purposes and partners; or
• Do not consent, in which case you will only see non-personalised ads.

You can review or withdraw your consent at any time from the Privacy options within the app's Settings.

Analytics

To understand whether new users find their feet, the app sends a handful of anonymous first-use milestones (for example "first departure board viewed") and, if you answer it, a one-question survey response to our service. These events are identified only by a pseudonymous key derived from the app's per-install credential — never your identity, location, or advertising data — are kept separate from the advertising stack, and are never shared with third parties.

If the app crashes, its next launch sends us Apple's anonymous MetricKit crash diagnostic for that crash — the stack trace plus the device model, OS version and app version, along with Apple's other crash metadata such as the device's region setting and architecture — so we can find and fix the bug. It carries no identity, location or advertising data, travels over the same per-install credential as everything else, and is used only to diagnose and fix the fault.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not create user accounts.
• We do not collect personal identification information.
• We do not build a profile of your journeys — pinned-train details are held only to send that train's alerts.
• We do not independently sell or share personal data, although our advertising partner (Google AdMob) may collect device and usage data as described in the Advertising section above.
• Requests to our own train-data service carry a random per-install credential, never your identity; our advertising SDK may transmit data to Google's servers as described above.

Data Security

Your settings and favourites are stored on your device and protected by iOS's built-in security features. All API communications use HTTPS encryption.

Children's Privacy

Our app does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages and does not require any personal information to function.

Your Rights

Your data stays under your control. You can:

• Clear all favourites, recent station history, and pinned trains from within the app;
• Revoke location permission in iOS Settings;
• Revoke notification permission in iOS Settings to stop delay alerts being delivered;
• Review or withdraw advertising consent from the app's Settings, where a consent message applies;
• Delete the app to remove favourites, history, and preferences stored on the device; the anonymous per-install credential is stored in the iOS Keychain and may persist but is not linked to you and expires server-side.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.
